Young Pearse
Here we have a young boy, about 10 years old playing pretend in his army uniform as he was taken to have his photo taken by his parents...
Little did any of them know, 27 years later, he would no longer be playing pretend. In fact, he would put on his volunteers outfit and march with 1,250 other Irish men and Women from Liberty Hall to the GPO and other points around Dublin city in 1916.
From the GPO, he would declare Ireland a Republic and begin a 6 day battle with the British Empire which ultimately was lost.
This young man, along with his comrades was then taken to Killmainham Jail where he was executed without trail and placed in an unmarked quick lime grave.
This young boy is Padraig Pearse.
